A man in his 40’s has died in Hospital after contracting COVID-19.
The man was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit prior to his death.
His passing marks the 11th life lost in the ACT since the outbreak of the Delta COVID-19 variant back in August of this year.
On Friday the ACT recorded 6 new cases of the virus after more than 1,600 tests in the previous 24 hours.
3 people with the virus remain in hospital including 1 in the ICU.
Across the border, 5 new cases have been detected in the Southern NSW Local Health District, directly surrounding the ACT.
As of Friday, 94.4% of Canberrans aged 12+ are now fully vaccinated against the virus.
