If you thought it was unusually cold on Tuesday…well, you’d be right!

The Nation’s Capital shivered through its coldest maximum daily temperature in more than 12 years.

The mercury at the airport peaked at a chilly 6.3 degrees just before 3:30pm.

That’s our coldest daytime temperature since 2009 when it hit a maximum of just 4.1 on 12 June 2009.

Tuesday’s cool temperature was also a record for the month of July, with daytime temperatures not dipping that low across the entire month since 2001.

That was exactly 20 years ago, reaching just 5.5 degrees on 6 July 2001.
