New stats from the ABS show the average Canberra car is 9.5 years old. The average age of cars across Australia is nearly 11 years old, while vehicles in Tasmania were the oldest, with an average of 13.3 years.
Canberra’s most severe hailstorm on record played a major role in new car registrations last year, contributing to a rise of 2.3 percent.
Cars and buildings were damaged as the freak storm made its way through the capital in January 2020, with winds of up to 117 kilometres an hour, along with hail stones as big as golf balls!
