Local health authorities have shut down rumors of a positive COVID-19 case within the Canberra community.
It comes after 11 people were wrongly notified late on Wednesday that they had returned a positive test result for the virus.
ACT Health said it arranged for the urgent retesting of the people, after they received the results from a private pathology provider, with 10 so far returning negative results.
The final person’s results are still pending but a spokesperson for ACT Health said there are no positive cases currently within the ACT.
“Throughout the pandemic, the ACT Government has worked to communicate quickly and effectively with the ACT community whenever there is anything Canberrans need to know.”
“Should there be a positive case in the ACT, we will provide information and advice to the community as quickly as possible.”
Authorities will be working with the pathology provider involved to investigate how the affected people were issued ‘indeterminate’ results.
