Organisers of Canberra’s first Christmas in July markets have been forced to postpone next weekend’s event amid the evolving coronavirus situation in Sydney.
The decision was made on Saturday morning after crew involved in staging the event were deemed unable to enter the ACT under current travel restrictions with the New South Wales Capital.
The event, which promises an authentic French experience with wooden chalets and snowmaking machines, is now scheduled to go ahead on the last weekend of July.
The arrival of the Christmas in July markets this year marks the event’s first time in the Nation’s Capital after two successful years in Sydney.
Organisers are now hopeful the event will go ahead on Thursday 29 July through to Sunday 1 August.
