Canberra’s annual celebration of Winter returns this year, after taking a break in 2020 due to coronavirus restrictions.

‘Wintervention’ is set to transform Civic Square with an open-air ice-skating arena operating daily throughout the festival.

The event will also see daily music performances, arts and craft, food stalls and markets held across both weekends of the festival.

CEO of the City Renewal Authority, Malcom Snow said the annual event is a chance for locals to get out of their ‘winter bunkers’ and experience what the city has to offer over the colder months.

“No other mainland city around the country has a winter like Canberra with enchanting frosty mornings and snow-covered mountains visible from the city centre.”

“Whether you’re a skater or a spectator, Wintervention is a family-friendly event designed to embrace the Canberra chill around entertainment, activities, food, and market stalls.”

Tickets to book a session on the open-air ice-rink are now available online.
