Local health authorities have identified two close contacts of the ACT’s two active covid infections within the Territory’s hotel quarantine system.

The two contacts are individuals outside of the group of international travellers who recently arrived in the ACT.

Both are currently being supported in quarantine settings and have so far returned negative test results.

While investigations into the origins of the two active infections, a man in his 40’s and a male under the age of 20, are continuing.

Two family members of the young man who are also currently in hotel quarantine, have been identified as close contacts, in addition to the two newly identified individuals.

ACT Health is continuing to liaise with NSW Health authorities and Singapore Airlines about the two cases to support other contact tracing efforts.

Genome sequencing testing is also ongoing to determine if these individuals have been infected with a variant strain of COVID-19.
