Roads lined with face after face of political hopefuls during an election could soon be a thing of the past in Canberra.

An ACT Assembly Inquiry into last year’s Territory election has reviewed the entire process and made a number of recommendations to the ACT Government.

One of those include the banning of roadside signs for electoral advertising along with the banning of campaigning on election day.

The recommendations were handed down on Thursday with the Government yet to respond.

Legislation to implement the recommended changes will still need to be introduced into the ACT Assembly before any formal change is made official in the Territory.
