Make sure you make the most of the Monday morning sun, we’ve got showers on the way for the Nation’s Capital and they’re set to stick around for most of the week.

Rain is likely to begin falling from late afternoon on Monday, bringing with it the chance of a thunderstorm as well.

The wet weather is expected to continue throughout the week, with a 100% chance of rain on Tuesday before beginning to ease throughout Wednesday and Thursday.

There’ll be some slight relief on Friday before increasing rain activity again from Saturday.

Bureau of Meteorology Forecaster, Helen Kirkup said cooler day temperatures are also expected to feature throughout the week.

“We’ve got quite a decent cold front moving through so between now and Wednesday we could see 20-30 millimetres fall across the ACT.”

“If we do see thunderstorms across the region, there could be some areas that do get an occasional heavier rainfall and behind this we will see some cooler air coming through.”

Day time temperatures are tipped to drop to the mid-teens on Tuesday and Wednesday.

There is some relief though, with the cloud cover providing warmer overnight temperatures.
