The number of Canberra schools where COVID-19 transmission has been detected has now grown to five.

It comes as the Wanniassa School Junior Campus cluster now sits at a total of 56 infections including close and secondary household contacts.

Mawson Primary and Orana Steiner School are the latest additions to the list, joining Erindale College and Duffy Primary who were also already on the list.

ACT Schools where COVID-19 has spread between students:

  • Wanniassa School Junior Campus: 56
  • Duffy Primary: 9
  • Erindale College: Less than 5
  • Mawson Primary: Less than 5
  • Orana Steiner School: Less than 5

ACT Chief Health Officer, Dr Kerryn Coleman said it’s likely transmission will continue to occur as the virus remains in the community while Children under the aged of 12 reamined unable to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

“This is something that we’ve seen in New South Wales and Victoria as well so it was fully expected.”
