Since ACT school students returned to the classroom, following lockdown, a total of 89 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within Canberra school communities.
Transmission has now been detected at a third school with Duffy Primary joining the Wanniassa School Junior Campus and Erindale College as places where the virus has spread.
Now, the ACT is considering the trial of a ‘Test to stay’ program, using rapid antigen testing, to keep COVID negative students in the classroom.
A similar program has just been rolled out in Victorian schools.
ACT Health Minister, Rachel Stephen-Smith is expected to make a call, on whether the trial will go ahead, in the coming days.
