Police have now located the man and woman involved as well as a second woman suspected of being involved.

All three were found in a house in Lyneham on Friday night, the man was hiding inside the roof space of the house.

Earlier: A detainee at Canberra’s Alexander Machonocie Correction Centre is on the run on Friday night after escaping from an ACT Corrective Services vehicle.

Police say the man was being transported in the car when it collided with a white Jeep 4WD at around 4:10pm along Oxley Street in Griffith.

Immediately following the crash, the detainee left the scene are getting into the Jeep with a female driver.


Both the man and the female driver are yet to be located, the Jeep was found on fire in Forrest.

Police are now searching for both people involved.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance with brown hair, hazel eyes, 193cm (6’3”) tall and wearing a blue jumper and blue tracksuit pants.

He has a distinctive ‘rats tail’ at the back of his head and has tattoos on his right upper arm.

The woman is described as being in her 20s, with long straight mousy blonde hair wearing a black face mask.

Police also believe a second woman was involved however, have no description for her at this time.


Anyone who thinks they may have located the people involved should immediately call the police but should not approach them.
