Police are investigating two separate ram raids on businesses in Canberra’s North during the early hours of Thursday morning.
The first occurred in Majura Park just after 2am where a white Citroen C5 and a black Jeep Cherokee were used to force entry into the store.
Three people are alleged to have entered the store, stealing two bicycles before fleeing the scene in the Jeep, abandoning the Citroen inside the store.
The second incident took place in Holt where officers on patrol noticed a Kia Sportage parked with its rear up against an entry to the Kippax Shopping Centre.
As Police approached, the vehicle quickly left the scene, it’s alleged officers returned to find heavy damage to an entry door and a heavy chain wrapped around an ATM as part of an unsuccessful attempt to drag it from the premises.
However, at this stage, it appears nothing was stolen.
Police don’t believe the incidents are linked but are investigating whether they may be linked to other burglaries earlier this week.
Anyone who’s noticed any suspicious activity at night or early in the morning on any day this week is urged to come forward.
People with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
