In a bid to further drive the ACT’s ‘world leading’ COVID-19 vaccine efforts, local tourism operator, GoBoat, is giving fully vaccinated Canberrans the ‘Captains’ treatment.
The picnic boating company will offer free captains hats to customers from this weekend as they prepare to reopen under the ACT’s eased lockdown restrictions.
Customers can receive the popular captains hat, which usually sell for $20, for free when they show their COVID-19 proof-of-vaccination confirmation on check-in.
GoBoat Australia Managing Director Nick Tyrrell said it is important the tourism industry plays its part in promoting vaccination against COVID-19.
“We know improving vaccination rates are just the ticket to get the tourism industry sailing along again.”
“Our captains hats are our most popular piece of merchandise – people love wearing them for Instagram selfies! – so giving them away for free to our guests who’ve been vaccinated is just a small way we can say ‘thanks’ to them.
GoBoat is just the latest in a long line of companies across Canberra and the country offering customers incentives to get the jab.
A million dollar lottery has been set up for vaccinated Aussies, the major airlines are offering free flights and accommodation for some vaccinated flyers, even the Jim’s Mowing group has been handing out merch to vaccinated followers.
The free captains hat offer commences for bookings from this weekend to 30 November, unless extended, and is limited to two free hats per boat.
