Goulburn’s jail went into lockdown on Wednesday afternoon, after a staff member was deemed a close contact of a confirmed Covid-19 case.
A spokesperson from Corrective Services NSW said the officer had attended the jail briefly while transporting inmates to the correctional centre.
“These inmates have been placed into isolation and will be tested for COVID-19 as a precaution. The staff member has been directed to go for immediate COVID-19 testing and isolate in accordance with NSW Health advice.”
The centre will re-open on Thursday, with operations resuming as normal.
