A 42-year-old man has been arrested and charged, accused of being drunk and performing burnouts in Macgregor in the early hours of Sunday.

Unmarked police attended the scene on De Gruchy Place after receiving complaints from a member of the public.

The Officers allegedly witnessed the man in a grey Ford Falcon sedan performing the burnouts.

He was arrested before being taken to the City Police station where he returned a breath test reading of 0.093.

The man was charged with driving a motor vehicle with alcohol in breath, driving while disqualified, improper use of a motor vehicle, using an unregistered vehicle and using an uninsured vehicle.

He due to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
