Police are investigating after a man was shot and two others threatened with a knife in Queanbeyan on Thursday morning.
Just after 7am, a 39-year-old man arrived at Queanbeyan Hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower torso.
He was quickly transferred to the Canberra Hospital, where he remains in a serious condition.
Earlier that morning, a man, armed with a knife, is alleged to have forced his way into a vehicle that was parked outside the KFC store in Queanbeyan.
Once inside the car, he threatened the two male occupants aged 32 and 60 before fleeing the scene with a man and woman in a blue Ford Focus with NSW registration CZ7-2NM.
A crime scene was established outside the fast-food store early on Thursday morning.
Police are now investigating both incidents and trying to determine if the two are linked,
