A man and woman have been arrested after being stopped by police after they were spotted driving in a car accused of being stolen.
The 26-year-old Canberra man and 23-year-old Batemans Bay woman were first spotted on Wednesday morning in Kaleen, travelling in a Nissan X-Trail with Queensland registration plates.
Checks by police revealed the plates did not belong to the vehicle with both the vehicle and plates being reported stolen earlier in the week.
Police followed the car through multiple northside suburbs while attempting to pull them over before it drove into New South Wales.
A short time later the vehicle returned into the ACT, making its way into the Gungahlin suburb of Forde, where officer deployed stop sticks and were able to arrested the pair.
The man driving was found to have drugs in his system at the time.
He’s been charged with driving a stolen vehicle, dangerous driving, driving while suspended, using incorrect plats, drug driving and failing to stop for police.
The woman has been charged for riding in a stolen car, both will face court on Thursday.
