Canberrans are being hit hard at the bowser with petrol prices across the Nation’s Capital hitting a 12-month high.

The average cost for a litre of unleaded will currently set you back $1.40.

High demand is being blamed for the price hike, with global economies beginning to open back up and lockdowns come to an end amid the ongoing pandemic.

Peter Khoury from the NRMA said he doesn’t expect prices will drop anytime soon either.

“We expect them to stay, on average, around the dollar forty mark, it is certainly high, higher than what we’ve sine in the past year.”

“If you are driving around and you see anything below a dollar forty then fill up there, we’re not going to see the massive price difference that we see in other areas.”
