A man has been extradited from Queensland to the ACT, accused of committing an indecent act on a child in Canberra.

Police allege the 55-year-old committed the act on a child under the age of 16 at a home in the Territory during the 1990’s.

The man who lives in Ipswich was served a summons to appear in court in relation to the historic act of indecency, however he failed to turn up.

Queensland Police arrested the man in his hometown before members of the ACT Policing Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team extradited the man to the ACT to face the charge.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates court on Friday charged with one count of committing an act of indecency on a child under the age of 16 years.
