Residents and Visitors in areas surrounding the ACT including Queanbeyan, Yass and Goulburn will be subject to tighter restrictions when they come into effect for Regional NSW on Saturday night.

From 6pm masks will become compulsory in all non-residential indoor settings across regional areas of the state, while household visitors will be capped to 5 people, including children.

Drinking while standing indoors will no longer be allowed, dance and gym classes will be limited to 20 with participants to wear masks at all times.

The one person per four square metre rule will be reintroduced with outdoor seated and ticketed events to be reduced to 50% capacity.

It comes as the entire Greater Sydney area, including the Central Coast, Blue Mountains and Wollongong, prepares to enter lockdown from 6pm Saturday 26 June.

In Canberra, ACT Health is expected to provide an update on Saturday afternoon.

More to come.
