Two teenage boys will appear in court after being accused of deliberately killing 14 kangaroos on the state’s South Coast over the weekend.
Police were called to Long Beach, near Batemans Bay, early on Saturday morning to reports of a number of kangaroos who had been killed.
Officers along with crew from WIRES found five adult kangaroos and one joey dead on Blairs Road and Sandy Place.
A short time later, police located a further seven kangaroos and one joey dead in the Maloney’s Beach area.
An injured joey was also located and is now in the care of WIRES.
Police arrested the two 17-year-olds on Monday night following an investigation into the incident.
The pair have been charged with recklessly beating and killing animals and are due to appear in the children’s court late next month.
