Detections of ‘weak’ coronavirus have been recorded in two men who arrived in the Nation’s Capital from Singapore earlier this week.

A man in his 40’s and another in his 20’s returned the positive results during day 1 testing of their hotel quarantine stay.

Both the men are asymptomatic and are not known to have previously contracted the virus overseas.

However, health authorities believed the ‘weak’ result suggests the infections could be a historical infection acquired overseas.

“Prolonged shedding of virus fragments is known to happen intermittently for up to several months after a person is no longer infectious.”

Further testing is being carried out today with the two cases to be included in the ACT’s total number of reported virus cases.
