A woman has escaped uninjured after crashing her car and being caught drink driving along the Barton Highway on Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to multiple reports of a Volkswagen Polo driving erratically at Jeir, south of Murrumbateman at about 2.10pm.

When they arrived, they found the car had been driven into a ditch, the 36-year-old female driver and sole occupant was then subjected to a breath test before being taken to the Yass Police Station for further analysis.

The woman returned an alleged reading of 0.416 – eight time the legal limit, and was charged with high range drink driving.

A state-wide police operation this festive season has already seen New South Wales Police issue nearly 3,217 speeding fines with more than 2,223 infringements handed out for other driving offences.

The woman is due to appear in court on Friday 15 January.
