Police are investigating a failed bag snatch where a 60-year-old woman was dragged across the ground before members of the public intervened.

It’s alleged a young man exited a car along Benjamin Way as the woman was crossing the road.

He’s then accused of attempting to steal her bag with the woman falling to the ground before being dragged a short distance.

Members of the public came to the woman’s aid and intervened before the man returned to the car and left the scene empty handed.

The incident took place on Friday afternoon.

Police are now seeking witnesses or anyone who witnessed a car driving quickly along Benjamin Way at about 4:10pm that afternoon.
