Bookies’ had Chris Hemsworth as favourite to play Steven Bradbury in the biopic about his life and famous Winter Olympics win although Steve revealed to Rod & Tamara from ‘Wrapped Podcast’ that it will be NSW central coast actor, Daniel Webber.
Daniel is best known for playing Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil in the film ‘The Dirt’, and John F. Kennedy‘s assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, on the sci-fi thriller miniseries 11.22.63.
Steven Bradbury is famous for becoming the first Australian to win gold at the Winter Olympics, after all his opponents were involved in a pile-up during the race.
The win quickly became iconic and solidified the popularity of being an ‘underdog’. Steve is so iconic he even made it in the Oxford dictionary. In 2016, ‘Doing a Bradbury’ was added – meaning “to become the unlikely winner”.
Steve told ‘Wrapped Podcast’ that the movie is being written by Pirates of the Caribbean script writers, although production has been halted due to covid.
The biopic will be titled the same as Steve’s beer company, ‘Last man standing’.
You can listen to Wrapped Podcast on Apple and Spotify and on MIX 106.3 Canberra between 6pm-7pm weekdays.
