Nine months after shutting its doors atop the spiral staircase in Civic’s Odgers Laneway, The Highball Express is back!

Only this time it’s relocated onto the main street, doubled in size and shortened its name.

Now known simply as ‘Highball’, Jess Arena from the LaLa Hospitality Group says the new venue has ‘grown up a little’ since we last saw it.

“The old Highball had a bit more of a vintage feel, it was quite Latin, whereas the new Highball is a bit more bougie, lux, a bit more lush with lots of greenery and we’re changing up the music to be RnB based.”

Located in the Melbourne Building along London Circuit, a grand staircase now welcomes you inside. Once at the top you’re greeted by a stunning bar, plenty of cosy seating and views for days!

Overlooking the bustling Northbourne Avenue and London Circuit intersection, a wrap-around terrace provides the perfect spot to take in some city views and enjoy a bit of people-watching.

In a further win for the bar (as well as you and I) it’s also received planning approval to remove the glass from the exterior windows giving it a more rooftop, open-air, breezy-style vibe just in time for summer.

For those looking for something a little more private, the smaller ‘Casita Bar’ offers a dedicated space to host functions.

However, it’s not just the venue that’s been given a makeover, the menu has also been expanded.

“Lots of fresh seafood options with a bit of South American flare.”

“And the drinks are the same tropical cocktails that everyone enjoyed at the old Highball with a few little extras like a daiquiri tree and bigger punchbowl menu.”
