Tuesday marks the final day of operation for the ACT’s Mass COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the AIS Arena.

With high vaccination rates across Canberra and low demand for jabs, the decision has been made to cease operations at the site and redeploy staff within the Territory’s health system.

Since opening in September last year, the clinic has administered more than 288,000 vaccines.

ACT Health Minister Rachel Stephen-Smith thanked the nurses and staff at the clinic while also thanking the community for working together to slow the spread of the virus.

However, Stephen-Smith also warned against complacency.

“It’s important to remember that the pandemic isn’t over. We must remain vigilant and practice COVID smart behaviours.”

Those eligible for a fourth COVID-19 jab are still being encouraged to come forward.
