Emergency Crews were kept busy well into the night on Wednesday, following a storm that moved through the Canberra region.

Strong winds and heavy rain over a short period was enough to push trees down on top of roads and homes.

As a result more than 150 calls for help were made to emergency services.

The ACT ESA responded to 147 requests, mostly in central and northern parts of the Territory.

Crews in Queanbeyan also received at least five calls for fallen trees and property damage.

A number of Canberra suburbs also lost power on Wednesday afternoon but services have now been restored.

For emergency assistance during floods and storms you can call the SES on 13 25 00.
