Nige has delivered an impassioned plea to Canberrans as he comes to his ‘wits end’ with drivers who continue to do the wrong thing on the regions roads.

“Everyone who’s driving a car right now, especially those of you who have a mobile phone in your hand right now, in the middle of sending a text.”

“There are hundreds of you right now and I know there are and you know you’re doing it, you’re doing the wrong thing – put your phone down!”

It comes amid a tragic few weeks on the region’s roadways with the ACT road death toll for the year now standing at 17.

That’s the highest it’s been in more than a decade and, unfortunately, it’s expected that number will still rise.
