The desperate search for an elderly dog, that captured the attention of Canberrans online, has ended in success.

11-year-old Samson, who has declining eyesight, went missing in Canberra’s South on New Year’s Eve while on holidays visiting his rescue family’s grandparents home.

The initial search to find Samson proved unsuccessful and his distraught family were forced to return home to Sydney without him.

Posts to social media sparked the attention of locals as thousands shared his image online in the hope of locating the ‘old boy’.

Through the help of a pet detective service, Samson was reported safe on Sunday morning.

He’s since been reunited with his grandparents who are now on their way to Sydney to reunite him to reunite Samson with his ‘Mummas and two tiny humans’.
