If you’re looking to sell your house at auction in Canberra, holding it on a weekday might not be such a bad idea?

Thursday has been revealed as the second most successful day to put your home up for bidding in the ACT, just behind Saturday, with an 83% of auctions ending in a sale.

Data from the first installment of Domain’s three part In focus: Auction series shows the number of weekday auctions across the country has doubled in the last five years and now accounts for a quarter of all auctions.

The territory had only a 3% difference in clearance rates between auctions held throughout the week and on the weekend, the lowest in the country.

Chief of Research and economics Dr Nicola Powell says the variety of days increase access and opportunities for potential buyers.

“There’s no denying midweek auctions are something to keep an eye on, we’re expecting this trend to continue”
