A Canberra Brewery has been named as the home of Australia’s favourite craft beer.

BentSpoke’s ‘Crankshaft’ claimed number one spot in the weekend’s 2021 Gabs Hottest 100 Craft Beer countdown.

It’s the second year running the local brewery has claimed bragging rights.

Despite the fresh win, BentSpoke Brewer, Richard Watkins said he’s already keen to make it a hat trick.

“We came third three years in a row and now first two years in a row, so we’d love to do a three-peat.”

Three Canberra brews made it into the top ten with Capital Brewing Co’s ‘Capital XPA’ and ‘Coast Ale’ taking out 7th and 9th place respectively.

Mr Watkins said this year’s countdown was a great result for the local industry.

“People often say ‘you’ve got big competition here in Canberra’ but at the end of the day Capital sells more beer because BentSpoke’s around and BentSpoke sell more beer because Capital is around, we actually work together to lift the profile of craft beer.”
