New and improved schooling infrastructure is set to be built in the suburbs of Straithnairn, Narrabundah and Garran over the coming years.

It’s all part of a $156 million dollar packaged to be included in the upcoming ACT Budget Review.

The projects include the build of a new zero-emission primary school and early childhood education centre in Strathnairn.

Education Minister, Yvette Berry said the new school is set top open its doors in 2025.

“Ginninderry is growing and having the region’s first school open in Strathnairn in 2025 will give local families – and families looking at moving to the region – confidence that they will have a high quality local public school close to where they live.

Also included in the package is modernisation works at Narrabundah College which are set to include new building works and provision of additional modular learning centres for staff and students to use while preparatory works are undertaken for further stages.

An expansion of the Garran Primary School will also be completed as part of the package which will see the schools capacity increased to up to 800 students.
